Servile

you said, this was all that there was and nothing else

you said, nothing would ever change and you never loved me anyway

you said, this wasn’t going to last,

so no matter what I never asked

whether things had changed since the last

time around

you said, this was all a game,

nothing more just the same,

you made it clear that there was more than that here,

when you began calling out my name,

maybe you were just having a bad dream

why is the mountain taller than the valley lows

seems they should be the same, but that’s never the way this goes

why is the man allowed to tend the herd

when all the herd can do is get hurt

so you just lead me where you dare

you said, you’d never fall for a woman just like me

you said, this wasn’t more than a sexual need

you said, yeah you said, only if it was all right with me?

what the hell did you expect me to say?

what the hell did you expect from me anyway?

when in that moment of passion your lips betrayed you

I heard the words but I never returned

figuring it was a mistake, maybe it was yours,

maybe the mistake was mine, we’ll never know

we’ll never get that chance again this time

why is the mountain taller than the valley lows

seems they should be the same, but that’s never the way this goes

why is the man allowed to tend the herd

when all the herd can do is get burnt

so you just lead me where you dare
