Your Pity Parade

Posted by Barbara Doduk on August 1, 2009 in Uncategorized |

pavement is cold

cracked and old

brittle with decay

the leaves dying

rustle and flying

in the winds

of yesterday

hear the whispers

in the corners

hear the voices

sing

ring out the truth

bring about the proof

the witnesses

to the charade

it is time for

the pity parade

look at all the broken hearts

dancing,

playing their parts

fill the streets

walk to the beats

of the tears and fears

that litter these streets

with shattered dreams

that no one hears

Silent Fight

Posted by Barbara Doduk on August 1, 2009 in Uncategorized |

lightning strikes

far off in the distance

by the time the rumble hits

it’s lost its resistance

rattles and rumbles low

passes us by on the road

home

and the rain starts

pitter-patter on the chrome

wipers rush and whosh

and the motor purrs alone

static on the radio

no words to hum

this is the silent night

nothing left to say

drive along the well worn roads

back home to dooms day

his fist is bloody

dried and swollen sore

she’s tired

and doesn’t want to hear it anymore

no excuses

for the bitter abuses

they know the score

no winners only losers

here

this is the silent fight

nothing left to say

in this blackness of tonight

tomorrow is another day

but nothing ever changes

even in the morning light

and the rain starts

lightning strikes

static on the radio

this our silent life

Essay

Posted by Barbara Doduk on August 1, 2009 in Uncategorized |

so you want another literal essay

shut up, keep quiet, watch what you say

write it all down, hide it away

just don’t stay

can i ask you a question?

can you answer me this?

come here, go away

go there, don’t stay

roxy lights

long after midnight

shouting fights

call me another name

accuse me of being the same

hate me for loving you

hate me because i am true

hate me cause i was

never her never were

can i ask you question?

can you answer me this?

come here, go away

go there, don’t stay

have another drink

get the boys to buy you a round

use them, to think

feel important, in that sound

take another picture

at 2 am

when…

everybody in the bar is your friend
